Almost Summer Again!!

Its been awhile since I’ve been on here. I moved to another State and I had some Medical Issues but I’M BACK NOW!! I hope everyone is doing well and have traveled a bit since we last talked. I know I have and will share in the website Southern Italy, and Portugal.

How to begin with describing Southern Italy!! I will try. It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! We flew into Rome and we took a train out of the Airport to Naples. Well Naples is really something to see. It is like I want to say the working class I believe of Italy one of them. It’s very Vibrant and Alive and Adventurous!! The Pizza is to Die for. . We stayed two nights there and had Pizza both nights for little to nothing with wine. I believe that is where pizza was born. The Cobble Stone Streets are Brutal, Acient. You better have very comfortable shoes to walk these streets. We went on a joy ride with and uber to the train station the roads are so small and if your not from there forget driving.

The PIZZA!!!!

We were off to Sorrento!!! Sorrento was Our Home Base for 5 nights. We stayed right in the middle of town. Perfect spot. Alot of Shopping and so many restaurants and walking distance to the ocean. We loved it and did Day trips to Positano and Amalfi and another day to Capri and Pompei.

The first night we just toured around and went to dinner. The next day we walked down to the ferry and took the ferry to positano toured around then back on the ferry to Amalfi toured around there also. It was so crowded we were lucky to have gotten the ferry there and then back to Sorrento. You have to becareful with being in line and ready to get on the ferry because there is so many people you may not get on. Sometimes the weather is bad and I heard they wil leave you there. The next day we went on a private boat ride ( 8 People) to Capri. It was one of the highlights of our trip. The weather was beautiful and seeing the island from the boat was Awesome. They brought us through the Blue Groto and around the Island and stopped in Capri so you could walk around and tour a bit then back on the boat. I got this tour from Get your Guide and a few more I have booked through them. Check them out.

The next day we went to pompei and with Get Your Guide I booked a tour for pompei. We met the tour guide in front of the entrance and there were about 10 people and the guide as we ventured into the ruins of this city that got caught off guard by the Volcano that suddenly erupted there. Everyone was unaware and you can still see people frozen in time its a solemn place knowing that over 2000 people died where you are walking that day. It is also very interesting to see how the people lived and how sophisticated they were. Definately worth going to.

Back to Sorrento and freshen up for Dinner and I believe one more day to just chill and tour and shop and have fun! We then had to go back to Rome to fly out.. We ended up taking a Bus which was the cheapest and most direct but there was only one and it left at 6:00 in the morning not my usual but we did it. Once in Rome which is such a cool city We have been there on another trip with our kids so we only had the next day then we flew out. So we had seen alot already in Rome and we only had that day so I booked with Get your Guide a cooking class right in a plaza in Rome and it was so FUN!! We made homemade Pasta and then they cooked it and brought out our pasta we made and we had a lovely lunch outside and they served us wine with it and we met a couple our age and it was just perfect. I would suggest doing that if you only have a short amount of time. Then Home the next day oh I hate to leave here I remember saying. Italy is just so relaxing and Beautiful!! I just Love it!!

A few added tid bits

One of the Restaurants we went to actually twice we have a tendency to do that if its good. Donna Sofia on a side road from the Main road was so good and make sure you get the tiramisu it is Awesome!!

Check out the FLix Bus if your not renting a car. We found it to be so reasonable and easy to get from one place to another. We then used it in Portugal when we were there. I will be blogging about our trip to Portugal soon.
